From the City of Boulder

The City of Boulder has launched an online questionnaire to collect community member feedback on transportation safety conditions on Baseline Road. The feedback will be used to help inform plans for the Baseline Road Transportation Safety Project, which will make multimodal transportation improvements to Baseline Road from 30th Street to Foothills Parkway beginning in Fall 2022 through 2025. This section of Baseline is one of three corridors prioritized for improvements as part of the city’s Core Arterial Network (CAN) initiative to improve safety on arterial streets.

The questionnaire is available on Be Heard Boulder at beheardboulder.org/baseline-road-transportation-safety-project and is open through Sept. 15, 2022.

In addition to the questionnaire, community members can join these upcoming public events to share feedback and learn more about the project:

Details for the events can be found at bouldercolorado.gov/events. City staff will also provide an update on the project to the Transportation Advisory Board at their Nov. 14 meeting.

The Baseline Road Transportation Safety Project will improve safety for all modes of travel on Baseline Road from 30th Street to Foothills Parkway through enhancements such as pavement resurfacing, bike lane upgrades, sidewalk repair and transit facilities improvements.

The Baseline Road Transportation Safety Project improvements will be implemented in two phases, with Phase 1 kicking off in Fall 2022 with pavement resurfacing, curb ramp enhancements and upgrades to make the existing buffered bike lane a protected, separated bike lane. Phase 2 will begin in 2023 and would include crossing enhancements, reconfiguration of travel lanes, transit upgrades and protected intersection treatments, dependent on a pending funding application submitted in June 2022 for the FY2022-2025 Call for Projects Round #2 of the Denver Regional Council of Governments’ Transportation Improvements Program (TIP).
