Cyclist 4 Community Announces The 2015 Boulder Bike & Brew Festival
Boulder, May 19, 2015 Seventeen inches in six days. All Coloradoans remember the rainfall numbers from the 2013 floods that left infrastructure mangled and personal property destroyed across the Front Range. More fondly, however, we remember the tight-knit community that came together and rebuilt what Governor Hickenlooper declared “a natural disaster emergency”.Shortly after the floods, enthusiasts in the county rallied road cyclists, mountain bikers, and riders of all types, from casual to professional, and put together a fundraiser for Jamestown, one of the hardest hit areas. Cyclists 4 Jamestown took in more than $120,000 in just 3 weeks to help the town rebuild. The group behind the effort saw an opportunity and formed Cyclists 4 Community in 2014 and put on a similar successful event last September, Cyclists 4 Lyons.Simultaneously, the Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA) stepped i. EFAA is an aid fund started in 1918 to support Boulder and Broomfield county victims of emergencies. Many organizations hold events and fundraisers aimed at contributing to EFAA, with the goal of building a nest egg that can benefit the region into the future. The next C4C event, the 2015 Boulder Bike & Brew Fest, is set to take place on August 15, 2015 at the City of Boulder’s Valmont Bike Park. The all day event will include race clinics, mountain bike, cyclocross and dual slalom competitions, as well as an expo featuring great food, music, and 17 local craft breweries. Half of the proceeds raised will benefit the EFAA and the Boulder Mountain Bike Alliance (BMA). Admission to attend the expo and live music is free.
