Thanks to the partnership between Boulder County and C4C, a variable message board is deployed by Boulder County around area roads. The VMB’s display language is devoted to cycling related topics except at night. At night the language usually advises regarding impaired or distracted driving, both leading categories of incidents.
The VMB, seen below, is currently deployed on Jay Road. It advises motorists regarding the new crossing at the Cottonwood path where both pedestrians and cyclists enter and exit. The language does not display in the photograph.
Starting in 2019, the hope is to deploy the VMB more widely and effectively. Up to the New Year, its positioning has been hampered by construction and other limitations. Thanks to Boulder County for its ongoing partnership on this work.
