C4C Founders
Wednesday Morning Velo began in 2000 when a group of Boulder-based professionals began riding bikes together before work. What began as an intimate networking ride ultimately grew to an audience of over 1,000 cyclists passionate about Boulder County’s economic, social, and recreational well-being.
Members of the informal Wednesday Morning Velo organization joined forces to raise nearly a quarter of a million dollars to support Jamestown and Lyons following the devastating 2013 floods. This effort founded the Coalition 4 Cyclists, known then as the nonprofit organization Cyclists 4 Community.
Role Models for Advocacy
Today Wednesday Morning Velo remains a vital force within the Coalition 4 Cyclists. Beyond the weekly networking rides which continue in their original format, the participants in WMV serve as role models for how cycling organizations throughout the County can support safety: they educate one another, they get involved, they bring new constituents, and they show up to voice their support for multi-modal transportation in Boulder County.
