Thanks to C4C’s partners at Community Cycles and constructive comments from several cyclists regarding what appears to be temporary road surfaces on Boulder Canyon / 119 between Fourmile Canyon and the tunnel, CDOT has shared some things to expect regarding the situation.

“…construction will start in the spring [of 2019]… It will be hard-going for a while but we will be adding two pedestrian underpasses, widening portions of the road, and repaving the entire canyon. Construction is expected to last from March 2019 to November 2020. I believe it will be focused in the lower portion … for the first year and then paving the rest of the canyon in 2020.”

It’s gonna get worse before it gets better but thanks to CDOT for answering questions about the current pavements and for improving what are heavily used and hazardous crossings and routes for cyclists.
